Weird question maybe, but I have a pretty archaic laptop that still runs on Windows Vista, which I use exclusively to play older titles (or retro-style games). I have bough the game and its expansion on Steam for my more modern system, but I would also like for it to run on my old laptop. Would the game run on Vista? If so, I would definitely buy it again, be it from itch.io or the game's site.

Your game got reviewed on the arcane cache, an underground blog for underground games

"There is a lot of cozyness to be found between old ruins in the middle of deep woods, between small hamlets in which simple people live off the land, all framed by large mountainsides with deep dark castles and towers that hide powerful magic."

Well done!

Thanks your review of Nox Archaist! I think you did a good job describing several points of view on retro tech gaming.

You may be interested to know that I hope to see a "Nox Archaist Remaster" released some day, in the spirit of the Bard's Tale remaster from several years ago where upgraded graphics, sound and UI were laid over the original core games. My programming skill set is fairly narrow, centered around Apple II assembly language, and I have yet to find a modern tech programmer to lead the remaster project and so do not know if it will ever happen, but wanted you to know it's on my roadmap in terms of intentions.

should be "sorcery"

Thanks! Fixed.

Why is there no GNU+Linux package? How do you know which customers are using GNU+Linux? How do customers pay extra for the GNU+Linux or MacOS packages? Apple ][ hardware, same questions.

Thanks for your questions! GNU+Linux is not an officially supported platform because I do not have experience with that operating system and cannot offer any assistance if there were issues. However,  there are players who are running Nox Archaist in Apple II emulators on Linux, such as linapple. All players have access to our Discord server and help from the community is likely available.

Apple ][ hardware is supported (128 of RAM required, IIe, IIc, IIgs). If you purchase either the Windows or MacOS package, both contain and .HDV disk image which can be run on many Apple II harddrive cards such as the CFFA3000, BOOTi and Floppy Emu. We also provide .PO floppy disk images which contain a beta floppy version, which you can transfer to physical floppy disks if that is something you are familiar with doing.

If you have any other questions just let me know!

How much content is there currently? I know thats a tough question sometimes. Like, how much to see it all right now? Thank you!

Our testers finished the game on a 1st play through in 60 to 100+ hours. Is that the kind of metric that is helpful to you?

Yup! Thank you!

Do you plan on bringing this to Steam? If so, would a Steam key be included with purchase? Thanks. Congrats on launch!

Thanks for your interest! I do plan on looking into a Steam release, likely over the next few months. Unfortunately I do not have enough information Steam's business model with developers to know for sure if it would be feasible to retroactively provide Steam keys to orders placed on other platforms. Generally speaking if it didn't cost me anything or much to do that, I would do it.

It's 100% possible. I have a game on Itch and Steam (it was released on Itch first), and I give Steam keys for Itch purchases. Steam keys are free to the developer. The only thing you'd lose is a bit of time setting it up through Itch, which really isn't much :) I wanna buy this, but I also want guarantee of a Steam key when it comes to that platform. Thank you!

Understood.

Here is the best I can do:

"if Steam keys are free to me as the developer when/if Nox Archaist is released on Steam, I will provide you a steam key at no cost if you purchase the game on itch.io"

The main hedge in there is the "when/if" because I have never donea Steam release, so I don't know what I don't know. I've read their FAQ and it looks like a $100 fee and a bunch of work setting stuff up and that doesn't concern me....but you never know when you will find devils in the details.

I appreciate your interest!

Good enough.

Also, you get that $100 'fee' back from Valve as long as you sell as least $100 worth of your product. Might be worth getting a page sooner than later to get folks wishlisting and for marketing purposes. Just an idea.

Thanks for all the answers!!

You're welcome!
